cat spraying: Question by wsdmskr825: What does it mean when a cat sprays on people?
My cat Fatboy is about 6 years old. I had him neutered at 6 months. He still sprays though, as well as peeing outside of the litter box. It’s an ongoing problem. He’s been to the vet, so it’s not a physical problem. However, on multiple occasions he has sprayed on people. For example, last night while watching a movie, he came up on the couch, right next to me, and sprayed on my thigh. Why would he do this? He has sprayed on me while I was sleeping twice in 6 years, and now last night.

Maybe you should take him to the vet again. Usually when a cat has been neutered, that stops them from spraying. Cats need to be neutered at the age of 4 to 6 months. Maybe the previous owner told you the wrong birth date or maybe it is because neutering doesn’t always work. If a cat was spraying before hand it won’t necessarily stop them. I hope I helped a little!

cats tend to Spray to mark their territory , they do this so they know what areas are theirs if you have other cats that live near yours the cats may be spraying indoors to stop them from coming in.
to stop your cat from spraying you can
    - get it examined by a vet
clean urine with specialized formula so it does not spray in the same spot
    - if your cat seems stressed try to find out what is wrong and help to calm him down
    - use a commercial product which will help discourage them from spraying the vets can tell you good product and may offer/ sell one there!!
    hope this helps you :)
